In this session, Dr Koa Whittingham, will introduce an evolutionary, developmental and contextual behavioural approach to supporting parents and parenting and argue that within such a framework the relational-emotional and the behavioural literature can be drawn upon without contradiction. Evidence on the use of ACT to support parents and parenting to date will be discussed and the parent-child hexaflex introduced and explored as a way to conceptualise ACT with families. Finally, this workshop will explore practical techniques and discuss use with different parent-child populations.
